ABOUT KUPU
Established in 2007, Kupu empowers future generations to create a more sustainable, pono Hawai'i.  We provide hands-on training programs that educate and mentor youth to become stewards of our culture and environment, helping them develop a strong connection to the place in which we live.  In doing so, we strive to fulfill our mission to empower youth to serve their communities through character-building, service-learning, and environmental stewardship opportunities that encourage pono (integrity) with Ke Akua (God), self, and others.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Hawai'i Youth Conservation Corps (HYCC) Summer Program offers individuals the chance to gain environmental restoration experience in a supportive team atmosphere.  Participants are assigned to a specific island and spend the summer months serving outdoors at various environmental organizations.

The fieldwork and cultural education participants experience through place-based learning provides opportunities to develop leadership skills, gain vocational training and build greater confidence.  In addition to learning the fundamentals of natural resource stewardship, participants may also receive college credit, monetary stipends and/or an AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion.

Applicants must be at least 17 years of age by June 3, 2019.  If you are 21 or over, please submit the HYCC Summer Team Leader application.  Applicants must be comfortable in outdoor environments, and be able to perform physically demanding duties.

HYCC Summer Member Program Dates:  June 10th - July 28th, 2019
