2024-25 HOST SITE APPLICATION FORM


Mahalo for your interest in hosting a Kupu Environmental Education Leader (EEL) and working with Kupu to continue to build environmental and natural resource programs and career pathways in your school.  Kupu provides hands-on training in conservation, sustainability, and environmental education for young adults, with the goal of fostering our next generation of environmental and cultural stewards.  Kupu's Environmental Education Department (EED) is focused on inspiring and preparing students for careers in natural resources.  



Program Details

Becoming a Host School:
  • The Kupu EED partners with Department of Education schools on an as-needed basis by placing EELs in schools to provide direct support to teachers and students, while our staff provide schools with strategic support and resources.
Eligibility:
  • Sites must be a Hawaiʻi public or charter intermediate or high school.
  • Sites must have one or more dedicated supervisor(s) responsible for: (A) working consistently with the EED to identify school goals and priorities, and (B) for mentoring and supervising the EEL.
Benefits:
  • Supplement your school’s environmental and sustainability goals/curriculum with ʻāina-based and work-based learning opportunities.
  • Increase capacity through in-class support and mentorship of students.
  • Expose students to a variety of natural resource professionals and organizations that inspire career aspirations in students.
  • Receive strategies and accompanying resources to use in curriculum building.
  • Promote enrollment in NR pathways to students with varying interests and skillsets.
  • Build alignment opportunities between high and intermediate schools.

Important Information:
  • Host sites must be a non-profit organization, state, or federal agency.  They must be able to provide EELs with sufficient educational and conservation projects, any necessary supplies/tools, and an educational experience in an environment that not only allows them to learn about teaching, but also inspires them to become future leaders in conservation and education.
  • After completing this application, selected sites will need to sign a Master Agreement, Statement of Work Addendum, and Site Fee Memo to proceed with this Kupu program.  These documents will be emailed to the Organization Point of Contact for review, after the application form has been submitted and reviewed.
