Mahalo for your interest in applying to be a Kupu ʻĀina Corps (KAC) host site!  This program was created to provide paid, career building experiences for young adults in sustainability related professions.  KAC is seeking organizations on Maui and HawaiÊ»i Island that can offer positions in the following focus areas, as well as others:

  • Removal of fire-prone invasive plants to reduce future wildfire risk
  • Restoration of land and communities impacted by wildfires, including planting fire-resistant plant species​
  • Building capacity to prevent and respond to wildfire risk​
  • Providing capacity to ranchers, farmers, and other businesses impacted by wildfire​s

Host Site Information & Requirements:
  • Sites must be on Maui or HawaiÊ»i Island.
  • Sites may host one or more individual participants.
  • Before filling out this application, please make sure you have performed all updates on your web browser.  Failure to do so may cause issues loading and submitting the form (Chrome and Safari are recommended).
  • If your organization only has one direct supervisor overseeing the requested participants, you may submit one application form.  If your organization is requesting multiple participants and they will be overseen by separate supervisors, each direct supervisor at your organization needs to submit their own application form.
  • You are required to submit an Emergency Action Plan with this application.  A sample or template you may view as an example can be found here.
  • After completing this application, selected sites will need to sign a Master Agreement, Statement of Work Addendum, and Site Fee Memo to proceed with this Kupu program.
Host Site Application Deadlines:
  • Priority Deadline:  February 23, 2024
  • Final Submissions:  March 22, 2024
Program Term Duration (Rolling Start Dates):
  • April 22, 2024 - April 19, 2025
  • May 20, 2024 - May 18, 2025
  • June 17, 2024 - June 14, 2025
